OXBRIDGE COLLEGE LAUNCHES CHARACTER COUNT PROGRAMME
The Character Count Programme, which has been running at the college since the beginning of term, was officially launched on the 18th February 2011 at the school premises. The programme started with the opening prayer by a student of the college and a member of staff of the college, after which the head of the programme spoke on the purpose of and need for the programme in the schools and the society today. He went further to explain that the character count programme is an approach to character education and does not exclude anyone and for this reason, the programme was based on six ethical values everyone can agree on which are not political, religious or culturally biased.
A student of the college Seun Odeyale, lectured parents and members of staff present on one of the six pillars of character; citizenship which he looked at from the perspective of the involvement of students and staff in community services, obedience of rules and regulations and cooperation in the society. Later another student, Edwina Ola spoke on respect and emphasized the need for people to follow the golden rule.
At the end of the programme, the character counts flag was added to the other college flags and the vote of thanks was given by Mr Oduniyi.
