RESPONSIBILITY AWARD (SEPTEMBER 2012)

He clearly stands shoulder high above most of his classmates, considering his towering 6-feet height. With a gentle smile that curls round his lips, it wouldn't be a surprise that he has quite a lot of admirers among his classmates. This is not the only quality that gave him the award. He surely is a responsible guy who takes integrity seriously. Welcome to the world of Jaiyeola Olatunde Oguntoyinbo, the September, 2012 Responsibility Award Winner.

Born in Nigeria, Jaiyeola just finished from Summerset School, UK and he is currently in the college AS Science Bellerby Medical Programme. According to him ‘My uncle has achieved so much at a young age and considering his exploits in the medical field, he is definitely one person I look up to’’.

On the award, Jaiye made this comment: ‘I am proud of this award and I want to believe that it confirms my belief to always want to do the right thing at the right time’.

Oxbridge Marks Nigerian Independence Day

Though Nigeria marked its 52nd Independence Day on the 1st October 2012, the college had its own celebration on the 5th of October. The day was colourful and full of many exciting programmes. Students had a free day to come in white and green attire or native attire. They didn’t disappoint. At mid day we were served a sumptuous meal. A guest speaker also gave a moving talk on the imperativeness of Patriotism.

Coincidentally the 5th of October was also the day when students with ambitions for positions on the prestigious college SRC (Students Representative Council) presented their manifestos before the college community. It was all cheer and excitement as inspiring speeches were read to canvas for votes. Students later went to their respective classes to cast their votes for their candidates. We'll soon be announcing the new SRC members so stay tuned ;-)

Get your Kung Fu on @ OTC!

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground. If you've seen Bourne or 007 in action recently you've seen some mixed martial arts moves! It is a unique sport that combines all the most efficient fighting techniques of fighting sports like Karate, Kung-Fu, Wrestling and even Boxing. Apart from this, it is an integrated class that caters for general body fitness.

Mixed Martial Arts is one of those extra-curricular activities recently introduced in the college. No wonder, it has continued to attract quite a large number of our students who work-out every Wednesday evening.
