As early as 8am the candidates had started arriving and from various programmes ranging from exam itself to a short presentation by the Principal, Carol Scott, the candidates and their parents that attended had a first-hand opportunity to not only see the state-of-the-art facilities in the college, but also ask salient questions. One of the highlights of the day was an informal interactive session with the President of the college SRC, Chidera, who  was also able to share his personal experiences with both parents and students as he took the visitors round the premises. Most of them found him an engaging speaker and to them it is as good as hearing it from the horses’ mouth.

OTC Hosts 1st Chess Competition

The college hosted schools in the inaugural APEN Chess Competition recently. 15 schools represented by their pupils and students drawn from primary to sixth form levels were in attendance, arriving  as early as 9am.

When the competition started in earnest at 10:30am, our expansive dining hall, the venue of the event, became a beehive of activity, with a lot of visitors  ranging from coaches, teachers, administrators and (interestingly), professional and international chess players who were present to see how they could motivate the young ones.

According to the Executive Secretary of APEN, Ms.Folawe Omikunle, the inspiration behind the chess competition emanated from the visit of Thomas Salome, the African-American educator who ingeniously used chess to inspire students in the slums to  improve in academics. The expectation of APEN is that Nigerian schools will embrace chess and tap into its ability to instil critical thinking and problem solving ability in our learners.

We look forward to more events of this type at the college :)

2014 Valedictory Service

A family that prays together, stays together! As we’re drawing to the end of another academic year, it was time to say a prayer for the achievements of our current crop of students.

As is custom we held our annual valedictory service just before students begin their exams in earnest. We prayed hard, danced harder!

Again all our thoughts are with you as you prepare to undertake exams that will mould your futures.

Best of luck!

Lunch with the MD :)

SRC members were hosted to a lunch with the MD, Principal, Vice Principal and head teachers recently as a way to convey our thanks for their service to the school and their fellow students.

The luncheon also lended the various members of staff the opportunity to give the soon-to-be graduates so gentle encouragement and words of wisdom.

We are truly grateful for your service and wish you the very best in your futures. We look forward to welcoming you back to the college in the coming years with tales of your adventures and successes.
